CHAR-ROSE RETREAT CENTER
Jesus teaches us in the Gospel of Mark Chapter 6:31 to “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.”
Char-Rose is a beautiful 200 acre farm that was donated to our ministry by the McCracken family of Markleysburg, Pa. The purpose for this awesome gift was to give our ministry a place where we could reach out to people bringing them closer to the Lord. Char-Rose is a place where people can leave their everyday lives and take some very special time to be with God.
SOLITUDE:
Join us for a day or stay for a few days. You can stay in one of our campers or use an open Adirondack shelter to get you out of the elements. If you prefer, bring your own tent. Enjoy fishing in our pond, or use the many hiking trails throughout the grounds for prayer or just plain relaxation. We also have a unique 5K hiking, running and biking trail that will keep you in shape.
EVENTS:
We have several annual events at the farm like our “Fire On The Mountain” weekend retreat that is held every August and our annual summer festival held in July that brings people together to just enjoy God’s great outdoors.
We are very excited about the adventure camp we are building for the young at heart and the special services being planned like revivals, crusades, renewal and healing services.
It is our prayer and intentions to honor God by the way we use each acre of this very special gift. Check out our photo gallery and our blog to get more info on this farm. Come on out and join us.

Eric Visits Us
Michael Kabay, our mission chair, invited Eric Funches to Pennsylvania to start his tour of the U.S. Eric explained to us that he is no stranger to trials and tribulations. On June 4th, 2004 Eric was diagnosed with a brain tumor and on June 29th had his first surgical procedure to remove the invader. In September he had his first sign that the tumor was returning, which stopped him from continuing in the profession that he loved, which was a high school administrator. Eric's second major brain surgery occurred in February 2005 and had a third operation in March to stop a hemorrhaging blood vessel in his brain. As if this wasn't enough Eric and his family suffered through the terrible devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
As a result of all the tragic events that took place the song “We Are Strong” was birthed, written by Eric, that he sings with passion because his life testifies a phrase that he coined “…Because you are still here, your purpose is yet being filled”.
Meeting Eric was a blessing to me and all that met him this year at Char-Rose Retreat Center. He touched our lives with his songs, his testimony and his genuine love for his neighbor. Please look forward to Discipleship Ministries inviting Eric to share with us again in the very near future.

Looking Ahead!
There is a lot of excitement with the volunteer staff of Discipleship Ministries. We are anticipating building six Adirondack shelters for out adventure camp. Our excitement is the hope that these shelters will be done by the spring of 2007. This will let us start to minister to the young at heart.
This part of the retreat center will be called “Gideon's Camp”. We are in the process of planning several different adventure camps for next summer, such as a mountain bike camp out, two paintball camps and a bike and canoe camping trip. You, your friends and your churches are invited to join one of our camp outs, or come on your own and enjoy our 200 acre plus retreat center.
Our prayer is that everyone that stays here will draw closer to the Lord. If you would like to plan your own adventure camp next summer, just call us and we will help design the camp out with you. The activities of the camp include a pavilion, kick ball and volleyball court. We also have the traditional horse shoe pit, and for those that love to paintball, we have built one of the finest woods paintball course in Fayette County. Lets not forget the pond full of fish waiting to be caught and miles of biking and hiking trails. Call us at 724-329-8414 or e-mail disciple@lcsys.net for more information.

Reflections from “Fire on the Mountain”
By Susan Collins
They were all together in one place… and there appeared to them tongues of fire, distributed and resting on each one of them… Acts 2:1-3. We were truly blessed with beautiful weather for our 2006 “Fire on the Mountain” weekend retreat. One of the comments I kept hearing from those that joined us at the retreat center - “I can feel God in this place”. To me those words were an answer to a question I had been pondering, not only this weekend, but over the last two years. Is this the place? Will God bless this ground? Will His Spirit visit this place? The ground is some of the most beautiful property in the mountains.
We are told in the word that God speaks through His creation. He reveals his nature to us in His handiwork - which very soon will be displayed for all of us to enjoy in splendor and majesty. I would like to extend an invitation to you to join us next year for “Fire on the Mountain”. It's not too early to plan for next season and we also covet your prayers.
People are searching, craving, longing for empty places in their lives to be filled. They need peace, they need rest, they need joy. God also is longing for a relationship with them, We have over 200 acres of beautiful property created and blessed by God, to be used for the purpose of beginning or strengthening a lifestyle that follows Jesus.
August 10 - 12, 2007 is the date. Please pray for this event… come and join us for a day or for the weekend. Let it be a time to draw near to God… He loves you so much… he wants you to know him more. We seek God's voice as we build and construct each phase of the retreat center. Our prayer is that it would be a place where the Spirit of God will remain and touch each person as they visit. Special Blessings poured out on your life from God's storehouse in heaven…
